Relations between Russia and Azerbaijan can be characterized as strategic partnership, Andrey Kortunov, director general of the Russian International Affairs Council, said at the second meeting of the Russian-Azerbaijani Expert Council, the Russian bureau of Report informs.
“In recent years, much has been done to give them a new dynamic, and we are already seeing the first results of these efforts - this is manifested both at the political level and in economic relations. It is very important that humanitarian contacts are beginning to develop more actively in our country. Our event is one of the evidence that the dialogue between independent experts is on the rise,” he said.
Kortunov thanked Azerbaijan for a frank and interested conversation with Russia.
“Any expert meeting, especially when people associated with state structures are represented, should help bilateral relations. Experts can sometimes afford more frankness, a broader view of many problems than officials. Of course, we are very grateful to colleagues from Azerbaijan that we have a frank and interested conversation with them,” the Russian expert concluded.
