The Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict lasted for more than 30 years, and during this period many unjust events occurred, the chief advisor to the President of Türkiye on national security and foreign policy, Akif Cagatay Kilic, said at the XII Global Baku Forum, Report informs.
He noted that Türkiye tried to help parties suffering from conflicts, but sometimes it is impossible to make much progress: "Due to its geographical position, Türkiye finds itself at the center of all conflicts. In this world of numerous challenges, we must respect initiatives and proposals. Many values are already being left aside. Today, conflicts and wars are happening in our neighborhood. And now it's important to contribute to stability. We need to find a way to adapt to changes."
He emphasized that Türkiye has been a candidate for EU membership for more than 60 years:
"Türkiye's accession to the EU is a strategic goal. We value this, but do they value us?" said Kilic.
