Azerbaijani-Indian relations have a very ancient history, Deputy Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan Rauf Hajiyev said.
Report informs that Hajiyev spoke at an official reception to mark the 55th anniversary of ITEC (Indian Government Development and Cooperation Program).
"Azerbaijan-India relations have a very ancient history. India is one of the first countries that recognized the independence of our country. In 2017, we celebrated the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. In addition, we held five meetings of the intergovernmental commission, within which we discussed cooperation in the field of finance, tourism, transport and others. Azerbaijan is also interested in cooperation with India in the framework of ITEC," he said.
He also noted that the potential for cooperation between the two countries is much higher than the current level.
In turn, the Indian Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Bawitlung Vanlalvawna also emphasized that ITEC can contribute to the development of bilateral relations.
