Deputy FM: Lachin road is part of Azerbaijan's sovereign territory

Lachin road is part of the sovereign territory of Azerbaijan, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Araz Azimov told a press briefing held for the diplomatic corps accredited in Azerbaijan on the current situation in the region, Report informs.

In this regard, he said that Azerbaijan has established a border checkpoint in its territory for the use of its citizens.

He pointed out that this right was established in the last decision of the International Court of Justice. Meanwhile, the Armenian side, which could not digest it, opened fire at Azerbaijani border guard, committed provocation committed against the Azerbaijani national flag, and continued the cases of abuse of the Lachin road. It was emphasized that Armenia is the party that restricts the use of the Lachin road. Azimov brought to attention that Azerbaijan has created conditions for the use of the road by Armenian residents for medical purposes, and proposed to use the Aghdam-Khankandi road for the supply of more products, which can contribute to their reintegration into Azerbaijani society.
