CIS Foreign Ministers Council discusses new steps in integration

On April 17, a meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) was held in Moscow, Russia, where participants agreed on the next steps in integration, Report informs, the CIS Executive Committee.

Azerbaijan was represented by Deputy Foreign Minister Samir Sharifov.

"The sides exchanged views on current issues of the international agenda and cooperation within the CIS format. At the meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers, decisions were adopted regarding two basic organizations in the field of education. The Council also adopted a Joint Statement on the 65th anniversary of the first human flight into space, emphasizing that the exploration and use of outer space should be directed toward the welfare of all peoples and countries," the information said.

In addition, participants approved a number of draft documents to be submitted to the CIS supreme bodies - the Council of Heads of State and the Council of Heads of Government. These include, in particular, draft decisions on declaring 2028 the Year of Social Development and Quality of Life in the CIS, among others.

The next meeting of the CIS Council of Foreign Ministers will be held in October in Turkmenistan.
