Baku hosts dialogue between Azerbaijani NGOs and small island countries suffering from Macronism

A dialogue between Azerbaijani civil societies and overseas territories and small island countries suffering from Macronism and French oppression was held in Baku.

Report informs that the event was attended by media representatives from French colonies, representatives of the Azerbaijani National Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO) Forum, and deputies of the Milli Majlis.

Speaking at the event, Abbas Abbasov, Executive Director of the Baku Initiative Group (BIG), emphasized the importance of the visit of media representatives from French colonies to Azerbaijan:

"The meetings and events held with your participation are a significant contribution to the steps towards liberation from colonialism."

Later, Parvana Valiyeva, deputy of the Milli Majlis, informed foreign media representatives about the activities of the National NGO Forum and the Baku Initiative Group (BIG) and their activities against colonialism. She noted that the BIG, as a global platform, is trying to convey the voice of the colonies to the international community:

"We raise the issue in international organizations and try to draw the attention of the UN to the problem of colonialism. Therefore, supporters of independence, political leaders, deputies, experts, etc. from New Caledonia, French Polynesia, French Guinea, Martinique, Guadeloupe, Wallis and Futuna, Corsica, Reunion, as well as Mayotte (Union of the Moon Islands) actively participate in the events organized by the organization both in Azerbaijan and other countries."

Valiyeva added that Azerbaijan will continue to fight against all forms of colonialism on a global scale:

"Because independence is the legitimate right of colonies. This can also be assessed as the restoration of historical justice".

MP Azer Allahveranov emphasized that the work done during Azerbaijan's Non-Aligned Movement chairmanship and the activities of the Baku Initiative Group is remarkable:

"Azerbaijan is a state that actively speaks out against colonialism. Azerbaijan also suffered from colonialism for more than 200 years as part of another state. Therefore, we support the territories that suffer from it. We consider it our duty to draw attention to the fact that they are not alone in their struggle for independence".

The meeting continued with discussions and a Q&A session.
