Azerbaijan demands to put an end to the destructive activities in the region by France, whose foreign policy has failed vis-à-vis many parts of the world, Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Aykhan Hajizada said in response to the anti-Azerbaijani views expressed by Jean-Noël Barrot, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of France.
Hajizada said that allegations made by Jean-Noël Barrot, Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs of France, during an interview with the France Inter, stating that “Azerbaijan violates international law in relation to Armenia” are yet another indication of this country’s baseless and biased attitude towards Azerbaijan, as well as shallow and superficial approach to international law.
"All the steps by Azerbaijan are derived from international law and justice. It is absurd to claim that our country is acting against the international law, and France has no evidence to support her claim. It is interesting that France, which presents itself as a promoter of international law and a guarantor of justice, has never criticized the gross violation of all norms and principles of international law in relation to Azerbaijan. It is an indication of an erroneous policy to present Armenia as a victim, which displaced nearly a million Azerbaijanis from their homeland, committed massacres and crimes against humanity, and disregarded the right of return of hundreds of thousands of Azerbaijanis who were deported en masse from the territory of Armenia. We once again demand to put an end to the destructive activities in our region by France, whose foreign policy has failed vis-à-vis many parts of the world," Hajizada said.
