Azerbaijan, Georgia prosecutors general discuss cooperation

The prosecutors general of Azerbaijan and Georgia discussed the development of cooperation, including in the area of identifying assets obtained through criminal activity, Report informs, citing the Azerbaijani Prosecutor General's Office.

At the invitation of Azerbaijan's Prosecutor General Kamran Aliyev, a delegation led by Georgian Prosecutor General Giorgi Gvarakidze arrived in Azerbaijan on a working visit. The sides held an expanded-format meeting.

The meeting noted the high level of strategic partnership between the two countries and the importance of cooperation between prosecution authorities in improving the effectiveness of criminal proceedings, protecting citizens' rights and combating transnational crime.

The sides discussed expanding cooperation in legal assistance in criminal cases, extradition, and the identification, seizure and confiscation of assets obtained through criminal activity, as well as the fight against corruption, cybercrime, terrorism financing and human trafficking. Special attention was paid to digitalization, personnel training and the exchange of experience.

Gvarakidze thanked the Azerbaijani side for the reception and reaffirmed interest in further developing cooperation between the Prosecutor General's Offices of the two countries.

As part of the visit, the delegation also visited the Museum of the History of the Prosecutor's Office of Azerbaijan. Maia Tabakari, chargé d'affaires ad interim of the Georgian Embassy in Azerbaijan, also took part in the meeting.
