Azerbaijan, China sign security cooperation agreement

The State Security Service of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Public Security of China have signed a cooperation agreement in the field of security, Report informs referring to the service.

The document was signed during a visit by a delegation led by the Chief of the Service, Colonel-General Ali Nagiyev, to Lianyungang city in the Chinese province of Jiangsu.

During the visit, held at the invitation of the Chinese Ministry of Public Security, the delegation participated in the 5th Global Public Security Cooperation Forum, which was attended by high-ranking officials representing various countries and international organizations.

At the event, which focused on combating terrorism, strengthening international partnerships, utilizing new technologies in the security field, and improving management mechanisms, a final document titled "Action Plan for 2026 on the Global Fight against Terrorism" was adopted.

As part of the forum, State Security Service Chief, Colonel-General Ali Nagiyev met with Chinese State Councilor and Minister of Public Security Wang Xiaohong.

Colonel-General Nagiyev expressed his gratitude for the invitation and conveyed his deepest condolences to the friendly Chinese people and the families of the victims regarding the disaster in Tibet, which resulted in the deaths of citizens of China and other countries. He emphasized that the Azerbaijani people share the grief of the Chinese people over these heavy losses and stand in solidarity with the victims.

During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on the global security situation and the nature of modern threats. They highly appreciated the current level of relations between the two agencies and reviewed prospects for future cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

The sides noted the importance of jointly countering growing threats based on mutual trust and respect, as well as the prompt exchange of information amid a tense international situation, where ongoing military conflicts in certain regions pose additional risks to the global economy. They highlighted that relations between Azerbaijan and China are strategic in nature and based on the principles of respect for sovereignty and mutual support.

The parties expressed their intention to facilitate the implementation of agreements reached between the heads of state, deepen cooperation in combating terrorism, transnational organized crime, and telecommunications fraud, and further develop ties between their law enforcement and security agencies.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the State Security Service of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Public Security of China signed an agreement on security cooperation.
