AZAL crash issue fully resolved between Azerbaijan, Russia — envoy

The fair settlement of issues related to the December 2024 crash of an AZAL aircraft has become further evidence that Azerbaijan and Russia value their relations and seek to continue developing bilateral cooperation on the basis of allied interaction, Azerbaijan's Ambassador to Russia Rahman Mustafayev said.

According to Report, he made the remarks in an interview with Lenta.Ru.

Mustafayev said all issues related to the AZAL plane crash, including compensation payments, were fully resolved in April this year in line with agreements reached by the presidents of Azerbaijan and Russia during their meeting in Dushanbe on October 9 last year.

"We proceed from the understanding that this sad chapter in our bilateral relations has been closed, and we actively support the process of normalizing relations. The fair resolution of this issue has once again demonstrated that Baku and Moscow highly value their relations and seek to further develop bilateral cooperation on the basis of allied interaction," the ambassador said.

In this context, Mustafayev also highlighted President Ilham Aliyev's position that relations between the two countries are important not only in a bilateral format, but also for the broader region.
