Ambassador Erin E. McKee, the Assistant Administrator (AA) for USAID's Bureau of Europe and Eurasia, will visit Azerbaijan on November 4 as part of a broader trip to the South Caucasus region, Report informs, citing US Embassy in Azerbaijan.
Ambassador McKee will reinforce the strong, 30-year partnership between the United States and Azerbaijan. McKee will be joined by the Deputy Assistant Administrator for the Bureau for Europe and Eurasia, Dr. Alexander Sokolowski.
Ambassador McKee's agenda includes meeting with the Deputy Minister of Agriculture to discuss US-Azerbaijan relations and USAID's partnership with the Azerbaijani government and discussions with the Director General of the Port of Baku on transportation routes and related issues. She will meet with women leaders and entrepreneurs on expanding opportunities for women in the economy. Ambassador McKee will also visit Martyrs' Alley to commemorate those lost to conflict.
In her meetings, Ambassador McKee will underscore the continued US support for Azerbaijan's independence and lasting peace in the South Caucasus, as well as highlight USAID's continued commitment to increasing private sector engagement between Azerbaijani businesses and foreign trade partners, promoting progress in women's economic advancement, and the importance of Azerbaijan's role in regional trade and mitigation of food insecurity.
