ASAN service center opened in Ethiopia with Azerbaijan's support

The Chairman of the State Agency for Public Service and Social Innovations (ASAN Service) under the President of Azerbaijan, Ulvi Mehdiyev, paid a visit to Ethiopia.
The agency told Report that the official presentation of the MESOB public service center, established on the basis of the ASAN Service model, took place within the framework of the visit.
The Azerbaijani delegation was accompanied by the head of the Ethiopian public service commission and the state minister of the prime minister's office. At the same time, the official presentation was also attended by the Azerbaijani Ambassador to Ethiopia, Ruslan Nasibov.
It was noted that in the pilot phase, about 20 state agencies and a number of private organizations are providing more than 120 services in the MESOB center, which is located in Addis Ababa and consists of 8 floors. The center's infrastructure includes service desks, information points, waiting rooms, self-service points, a call center and a children's corner.
The Ethiopian side expressed deep gratitude to the Azerbaijani state for its support and noted that it is planned to increase the number of such centers by the end of the year.
A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the State Agency and the relevant Ethiopian institution in May 2024 regarding the implementation of the ASAN service experience in Ethiopia.
During the meeting between Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and his Ethiopian counterpart, Taye Atske Selasie, held on November 14, 2024 within the framework of COP29, the Ethiopian side expressed their interest in implementing the ASAN service experience in the country and requested the support of the Azerbaijani side in this regard.
Over the past period, the agency's specialists have conducted training for civil servants from Ethiopia, prepared legal and other necessary documents regarding the implementation of the ASAN Service experience in Ethiopia, determined a single standard of services, and formulated recommendation documents based on technological solutions used in ASAN Service centers.
The building of the service center to operate in Addis Ababa was selected and redesigned based on the concept of ASAN Service centers. Cooperation was carried out with relevant government agencies represented at the MESOB public service center in Ethiopia to optimize services and simplify business processes.
