Amy Carlon: US prioritizing South Caucasus, Trans-Caspian corridor

The US is increasing its focus on the South Caucasus, recognizing the region's potential for developing the Trans-Caspian trade corridor and expanding opportunities for American businesses, US Chargé d'Affaires to Azerbaijan Amy Carlon said at the Second Azerbaijan International Investment Forum (AIIF 2026), Report informs.

According to her, relations between the US and Azerbaijan have developed significantly over the past 14 months, marked by a visit from the US vice president, the hosting of the inaugural economic dialogue, and subsequent high-level contacts.

"I think it is very clear that the United States is currently prioritizing the South Caucasus region," Carlon said.

She also referenced a recent event held on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York dedicated to the TRIPP, as well as a speech by US President Donald Trump in which he highlighted the agreement reached between Azerbaijan and Armenia in August.

"This is not something that will fade away. This represents a new focus for the US government, as we genuinely see the potential of the South Caucasus within this Trans-Caspian trade corridor, as well as opportunities for American business, mutual prosperity, and ways we can bring peace and new possibilities to this region," Carlon emphasized.
