At the invitation of the American University in Washington, the Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the United States, Elin Suleymanov, held an online briefing on the results of the 44-day Patriotic War.
At the panel, the Ambassador answered numerous questions from Professor Kate Darden and the audience who joined the briefing via the Internet. According to the university's information, the briefing was remembered because of the largest number of spectators among such organizations and aroused interest. There were many Armenians among the audience.
After the announcement of the event by the American University, the Armenian radicals launched a campaign of insults and threats against our country, the Azerbaijani Embassy in the United States, made hate speech, and even called on the university to cancel the briefing. The Armenian side is concerned that the truth will be brought to the attention of the US public and academic circles and tried to hinder the event. The Azerbaijani MFA has also stated its official position on the challenges and threats against our country and diplomats based on this hatred.
The discussions focused on the history of the war, its causes, the situation after the fighting, and the future of the South Caucasus. The Ambassador spoke about Armenia's constant attempts to disrupt the peace talks, the provocative statements of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and former Defense Minister Davit Tonoyan, and the military rhetoric.
Elin Suleymanov also drew attention to the military provocation committed by Armenia against our country in the direction of Tovuz on July 12-14, 2020. He noted that the provocative statements and rhetoric voiced by Armenian radicals deal a direct blow to Armenia's future. Suleymanov stressed the importance of cooperation for the sake of the future of the Azerbaijani and Armenian people, and the wider region, against the background of the new situation in the area, emphasizing the significance of transport, infrastructure, and economic projects. He called on the Armenian people to live in peace with Azerbaijan and other neighbors and choose a prosperous future.
