Ambassador of Uzbekistan: OTS countries have enormous potential for developing cooperation

The countries of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) have enormous potential for developing mutual cooperation, the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Azerbaijan Bakhrom Ashrafkhanov said at a meeting at the Center for Economic Reforms and Communications, Report informs.

The ambassador noted that the OTS is actively working to create a theoretical foundation for the development of mutually beneficial trade and economic relations between member countries, and is also taking concrete steps in this direction.

“The potential for the development of mutual cooperation between our countries is colossal,” Ashrafkhanov said.

The diplomat recalled that the economy of Uzbekistan is one of the most dynamically developing in the Central Asian region. “Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, Uzbekistan’s GDP grew by almost 2 percent in 2020. After the pandemic, in 2022, Uzbekistan’s economy grew by 7.4 percent,” he said.

Ashrafkhanov noted that since 2017, Uzbekistan has entered a new period of accelerated development:

“This became possible thanks to the initiatives adopted by the country's leadership. In particular, a new ‘action strategy for five priority areas of development of the Republic of Uzbekistan in 2017-2021’ was adopted,” Ashrafkhanov noted.
