Al-Dulaimi: Iraq interested in further developing relations with Azerbaijan

Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova met with First Deputy Speaker of Iraq's Council of Representatives Adnan Fayhan Al-Dulaimi, who is visiting Baku to participate in the 20th Session of the Conference of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States.

According to the Press and Public Relations Department of the Milli Majlis, cited by Report, during the meeting, it was emphasized that relations between Azerbaijan and Iraq are based on shared religious and cultural values.

Gafarova noted that both countries demonstrate mutual support within the framework of the United Nations, the Non-Aligned Movement, and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). She highlighted the favorable opportunities for expanding cooperation in energy, investment, tourism, and other sectors.

The sides stressed the importance of cooperation between their legislative bodies both on a bilateral basis and within international organizations.

Al-Dulaimi underscored the significance of cooperation within the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States and expressed Iraq's interest in further developing relations with Azerbaijan.

The Iraqi official noted that the issues discussed during the 20th Session contributed to addressing pressing challenges facing the Islamic world and that the event served to strengthen cooperation among member states.

The meeting also included an exchange of views on other issues of mutual interest.
