39th meeting of BSEC Council of Foreign Ministers kicks off in Baku

Baku. 14 December. REPORT.AZ / The 39th meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organization (BSEC) has kicked off in Baku.

Report informs that the meeting is chaired by Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov.

Delegations headed by high-ranking officials of the member states of the organization attend tne metting.

4 Ministerial meetings were held, including a meeting at the level of foreign ministers, 21 meetings of thematic working and special working groups, as well as the plan on activity of a number of working groups (tourism, ICT, energy) was adopted during Azerbaijan's chairmanship in the organization. Moreover, more than 10 meetings, exercises, seminars and other activities of BSEC-related bodies were held.

BSEC chairmanship will be shifted from Azerbaijan to Bulgaria.

Notably, BSEC was established on the proposal of Turkey on June 25, 1992, by signing of the Istanbul Declaration. Currently, the organization includes 12 countries: Azerbaijan, Albania, Armenia, Bulgaria, Greece, Georgia, Moldova, Russia, Romania, Serbia, Turkey and Ukraine. Moreover, 14 countries and 4 organizations have an observer status in BSEC.
