Resigns manager of club defeated by FC Gabala in Europa League

Baku. 23 November. REPORT.AZ/ Coach of French FC Lille, Frederic Antonetti has parted company with the club.

Report informs citing the club's website, the decision was taken after meeting between the 55-year old coach and the club's president Michel Seydoux.

The parties did not report financial statement on the resignation under agreed terms to leave "in a friendly manner". It is not still known who will replace Antonetti. Main candidate is former coach of Turkish FC Fenerbahçe Vitor Pereira.

Notably, Frederic Antonetti appointed as Lille coach in November 2015. So, the club move ahead to 5th from outsider group. However, Lille has again failed since 2016 summer. The team lost to Gabala at two matches of the Europa League 3rd qualifier (1:1, 0:1) and stopped to compete, ranking 19th with 10 points after first 13 rounds of the French League.
