Olympique Lyonnais (OL) has reached an agreement to sign Mallorca goalkeeper Dominik Greif (28), according to a report from L’Équipe, Report informs via Get French Football News.
Lyon has been in the market to sign a goalkeeper since Lucas Perri departed for Leeds United earlier this summer. That sale was somewhat necessary, even if undesirable, given the club’s financial situation.
OL has had to find budget replacements for departed players and, as reported by L’Équipe, now has a strategy where they don’t spend more than €10 million on one single player.
The deal to sign Greif, which came after days of long negotiations, is worth €4 million, L’Équipe understands. There is also a set of bonuses that could rise to €1.25 million, whilst the Spanish side has also retained a 10% sell-on percentage.
With a deal agreed, Greif is expected in Lyon next week. The goalkeeper will undergo a medical before signing a five-year deal. He should be in the squad to face RC Lens on the opening day of the season.
