Kenan Karaman: "Playing in Baku is a wonderful event for Turkish people"

"The group we are in is good. It is also great to play the opening match. We will face Italy, which shows good performance in all matches. But everything is possible in the opening match," Turkey's national football player Kenan Karaman said in an interview with Anadolu Agency, commenting on Euro 2020.

According to the European Championships draw, the Turkish team is in Group A, together with Italy, Switzerland, and Wales.

The 25-year-old striker, wearing a German Fortuna uniform, said it was an advantage for them to play two games at the Baku Olympic Stadium: "Other rivals are also strong, and all of them deserve respect. Playing in Baku is a wonderful event for the Turkish people. It is like our second home. We will have many fans, and it can give us additional motivation. So I am upbeat about the group."

The Wales-Switzerland match is due at the Baku Olympic Stadium on June 13. Baku will also host Turkey-Wales match on June 17, Turkey-Switzerland match on June 21 and one of the quarterfinal games.

Italy and Turkey will meet at the Olympic Stadium in Rome in Euro-2020 opening match.
