The president of Hungarian club Ferencvárosi Torna Club (known as Ferencváros), which won the Hungarian league title for a record 31st time, is Azerbaijani Gabor Gubadov.
Gubadov is originally from Azerbaijan's Nakhchivan region, and his family moved to Hungary in the last century. He is a member of the Hungarian Parliament since 2006.
Gubadov, whose father is Azerbaijani and mother is Hungarian, attended secondary school in Pesterzsébet. In the 1990s, he served as an entrepreneur in various fields. He moved to Soroksár with his family in 1997.
Gubadov took an active part in the 2008 referendum and the 2009 European Parliament election in Hungary. The politician, who has been a member of the Hungarian parliament since 2006, was elected one of the ten most prominent people of Hungary this year. He is married and has three children named Emma, Marcell, and Olívia.
Ferencváros is the most successful club in Hungary. The team, nicknamed the "Green Eagles," won the national cups 23 times in addition to the championships and was the finalist in the European Cups in the 1974/1975 season. In the decisive match, the club lost to Kyiv's "Dynamo" with a 0:3 score. The current head coach of the club is Ukrainian Serhiy Rebrov.
Founded in 1899, Ferencváros plays its home games at the 22,000-capacity Groupama Arena. Ferencváros was named the best club in the country in 2006.
He was qualified for the Champions League by securing gold medals three rounds before the end of the season and became a potential opponent for the winner of the Azerbaijan Premier League.
