AFFA announces proposals on CIS Cup

Baku. 23 January. REPORT.AZ/ President of the Russian Football Union (RFU) commented on good proposals on Commonwealth Cup from Azerbaijan. Information and Public Relations Department of organization Mikayil Narimanoglu said the proposal was made last year during the meeting between AFFA President Rovnag Abdullayev and his Russian counterpart.

According to him future of the CIS Cup discussed during the meeting: "We considered holding the tournament between the clubs appropriate. If the winner of the Premier League continues to struggle in the Champions League and Europa League, then cup winner or silver prize-winner offered to join the CIS Cup. The second proposal is to include clubs of other neighboring countries to competition.

Moreover, the prize fund must be high in order to ensure the participation of key personnel of the teams. This issue will also be discussed by other countries".

M. Narimanoglu said that the, financing of the tournament shall be responsibility of the host country: " We have simply made a proposal. Russia is the organizer of the tournament. They deal with other issues. The prize fund, issues related to increasing and giving the amount will be done by Russian Federation. All the issues should be resolved and agreed together with participating countries".

Notably, Vitaly Mutko said to media that AFFA has put forward good offer regarding CIS Cup. But the Federation did not disclose the contents of the proposal.
