As a result of ongoing measures in the field of transparency, minimizing the number of inspections and other steps, the business environment has improved every year and tax revenues have begun to grow in Azerbaijan, First Deputy Minister of Economy Sahib Alakparov said on February 10 at the conference “Heydar Aliyev and the tax system of Azerbaijan: towards new challenges”
According to Report, Alakparov noted that it was the national leader Heydar Aliyev who created today's modern tax system: "As a result of his policy, tax legislation and administration were formed in Azerbaijan."
The deputy minister emphasized that in the early 1990s, the situation in the field of tax revenues was unfavorable and tax evasion was widespread: "Later, as a result of the policy pursued under the leadership of great leader Heydar Aliyev, tax revenues began to grow and in 2004 crossed the threshold of 1 billion manats (nearly $590 million - ed.). In 2022, tax revenues in the amount of 15.5 billion manats (over $9.1 billion) were provided to the state budget. However, one cannot be complacent. Given the ongoing reforms in the economy, as well as the existing potential, much remains to be done."
