Russia, Iran mull joining alternative system to SWIFT

Russia and Iran discuss the recognition of the first payment system "Mir" in the Islamic Republic, as well as joining an alternative to the international interbank system SWIFT, said Iranian Ambassador to Russia Kazem Jalali, Report informs, citing TASS.
"We are trying to take successful steps in this area in the future. At present, the issue of recognition of the Mir payment system is on the agenda, and negotiations are underway with Russian counterparts in this direction," he said.
