ECB comments on slowdown in inflation in eurozone

The slowdown in inflation in the euro area is a good thing. Despite this, inflationary pressures and service prices remain very high, ECB Governing Council member Gabriel Makhlouf said, Report informs.

“Therefore, I think that at the next meeting, which will take place in just two weeks, we will probably raise the stakes again,” he said in an interview with broadcaster RTE.

“In May, we decided to raise the key rate by 25 basis points, and I think if we raise it again in a couple of weeks, the amount of the increase will be the same,” Makhlouf added. “I think there will be increases in June and July, and the future is much less clear.”
