Azerbaijan has expressed its interest in strengthening cooperation with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
Report informs, citing the Ministry of Finance, that Minister Sahil Babayev met today with Anna Bordon, head of the IMF mission in Azerbaijan, to discuss the country’s macroeconomic situation and the upcoming IMF consultative mission.
"The meeting covered macroeconomic and macro-fiscal processes in the country, year-end forecasts, medium-term outlooks, and recent initiatives and plans, including the consultative mission under Article IV scheduled for early next year," the statement said.
During the meeting, the Azerbaijani government reaffirmed its interest in further deepening collaboration with the IMF.
"The parties also exchanged views on the key fiscal policy reform agenda and possible options for IMF support of these reforms," the ministry noted.
It was emphasized that IMF technical assistance programs and advisory services have significantly contributed to strengthening macroeconomic stability and fiscal governance in the country.
