Azerbaijan increases spending on car imports by nearly 17%

In January-February 2025, Azerbaijan imported 16,758 various vehicles worth $288.94 million, Report informs, citing the State Customs Committee (SCC).
This is 26% more in value and 16.7% more in quantity compared to the same period last year.
Imports of motor vehicles designed to transport 10 or more people, including the driver, increased by 4.4 times to 106 units (worth $8.92 million), while imports of passenger cars and other motor vehicles intended mainly for the transport of people increased by 27.3% to 15,309 units (worth $255.9 million).
Of these vehicles, 7,577 (worth $146.26 million) were vehicles powered by an electric motor in addition to an internal combustion engine, and 309 (worth $12 million) were vehicles powered only by an electric motor.
This represents a 2.9-fold increase in the former and a 42.9% decrease in the latter.
In addition, imports of motor vehicles for the transport of goods increased by 6.9% to 1,267 units (worth $17.27 million), while imports of special-purpose motor vehicles increased by 13.4% to 76 units (worth $6.82 million).
