Azerbaijan has discussed with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) the possibility of expanding joint activities in the field of modernizing the renewable energy and information technology ecosystem, Report informs referring to the Economy Ministry.
EBRD governor for Azerbaijan, Economy Minister Mikayil Jabbarov held a meeting via videoconference with the bank’s First Vice President Jurgen Rigterink.
The minister of economy emphasized that Azerbaijan attaches special importance to the development of relations with the bank, as well as the application of advanced experience and innovative technologies in projects implemented jointly with the EBRD.
During the meeting, the importance of discussing with the EBRD priority projects in the energy sector, especially renewable and alternative ones, the Government Cloud Data Center (G-Cloud) project, as well as in other areas, was noted.
Jurgen Rigterink noted that the cooperation portfolio covers important issues, and Azerbaijan’s globally significant initiatives stimulate partnership.
The first vice-president of the EBRD congratulated Azerbaijan on being chosen to host the meeting of the 29th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) this year and expressed its readiness to support the country in this direction.

“During a video conference with First Vice-President of the EBRD, Jurgen Rigterink, we discussed projects being implemented in our country with the support of the bank, partnership with the Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company (ASCO), as well as issues of cooperation within the COP29, which will be held in Azerbaijan,” the minister noted.
