Wintershall Dea explores options to exit Russian market

Germany's Wintershall Dea, one of the largest oil and gas companies in Europe, is exploring available options to ditch its Russian assets and take personnel out of Russia, the head of the company, Mario Meren, said during a press conference, Report informs via TASS.

“We no longer see prospects for energy cooperation with Russia in the foreseeable future. Our decision is final. We have begun to take appropriate steps in recent weeks. Started the process of closing the office in St. Petersburg, reducing the number of local colleagues. We have also returned our expatriate colleagues from Russia back to their home jurisdictions. We are also considering various exit options,” he said.

According to him, the process of exiting Russian assets is ongoing and difficult, as the Russian authorities are constantly creating new barriers, obstacles and administrative procedures.
