The World Bank (WB) is preparing a roadmap for offshore wind energy development in Azerbaijan, Report informs, citing Sarah Michael, the World Bank (WB) Country Manager for Azerbaijan.
The WB is helping the Azerbaijani government to assess the potential of wind energy and determine its place in the country’s energy capacity in the future. The WB is helping to identify challenges, opportunities, and difficulties in this area, said Michael.
The roadmap will include geospatial and economic analyzes, cost modeling, supply chain, infrastructure, social and environmental impact assessments.
The WB is preparing a roadmap jointly with the British company BVG Associates (BVGA) and the Azerbaijani government.
This study aims to identify the best locations for offshore wind energy development in Azerbaijan.
The potential of offshore wind energy in Azerbaijan is estimated at 157 gigawatts.
