Volume of gas supply orders from Azerbaijan to Europe via TAP declines

On August 4, the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP), which transports Azerbaijani natural gas to Europe, received an order for 356,657,291 kWh of gas at Greece’s Kipoi entry point, Report informs, citing TAP’s electronic data platform.

This figure represents a 2.7% decrease compared to order levels recorded on the previous Monday.

For the period of August 5–11, the order volume at Kipoi is set at 331,019,866 kWh, which is:

- 9.7% lower than volumes recorded for July 29–31;

- 7.8% lower than August 1;

- 7.2% lower than August 2–3.

At Greece’s Komotini entry point, daily orders for August 4–11 remained stable at 28,674,418 kWh—matching the previous week’s figures.

From Nea Mesimvria, another Greek delivery point, the volume ordered for August 4–11 was 30,346,301 kWh, unchanged from the prior week.

For Italy’s Melendugno entry point, orders placed on August 4 amounted to 295,340,315 kWh, which is a 2.9% decline compared to June 28 levels.

Between August 5 and 11, Melendugno will receive 271,999,147 kWh of gas—a drop of:

- 10.7% compared to July 29–30;

- 11.6% compared to July 31;

- 8.7% compared to August 1;

- 7.9% compared to August 2–3;

The construction of the Trans-Adriatic Pipeline was completed in October 2020. The total length of TAP is 878 km, of which 550 km passes through the northern part of Greece, 215 km through the territory of Albania, 105 km along the bottom of the Adriatic Sea, and 8 km through the territory of Italy. The supply of Azerbaijani gas to consumers in Italy, Greece, and Bulgaria via TAP began on December 31, 2020.
