Türkiye remains top buyer of Azerbaijani gas for four months

Azerbaijan exported 3.186 billion cubic meters of natural gas to Türkiye, valued at just over $1 billion in the first four months of 2024, Report informs, citing the Azerbaijani State Statistical Committee.

Compared to the corresponding period last year, the volume of exports increased by an impressive 40.2%, or 914.3 million cubic meters. In value, the growth reached 5.9%, equivalent to $56.38 million.

Azerbaijan's total gas exports for four months stood at 7.706 billion cubic meters, valued at $2.758 billion. Despite the volume of exports rose by 18.3%, the value experienced a 49.1% decrease compared to the previous year.

Türkiye, Italy, and Bulgaria emerged as the top three buyers of Azerbaijani gas during the reporting period. Notably, Türkiye alone accounted for 41.3% of all gas exported from Azerbaijan in January-April 2024, securing its position as the leading importer.

In total, Azerbaijan exported gas to six countries during the reporting period: Italy, Bulgaria, Greece, Serbia, Türkiye, and Georgia. This highlights Azerbaijan's growing role as a reliable energy partner for countries in the region and beyond.
