STAR Refinery slightly reduces crude oil imports

The STAR Refinery, an asset of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) in Türkiye, imported nearly 1.758 million tons of crude oil in the first two months of 2025, Report informs, referring to the Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA).
According to the data, this is 25.24 percent of Türkiye’s total crude oil imports for the reporting period.
Meanwhile, imports fell by 41,855 tons, or 2.3 percent, compared to the same period in 2024.
In February alone, STAR Refinery imported 830,883 tons of crude oil, which is 28,991 tons or 3.4% less than a year ago.
Over the course of two months, the refineries in Türkiye imported about 4.606 million tons of crude oil, representing a decrease of 78,200 tons, or 1.7% compared to the corresponding period of 2024.
STAR Refinery was inaugurated on October 19, 2018. The foundation of the plant was laid on October 5, 2011. In September 2019, the plant started working at full capacity.
The plant can process 13 million tons of Urals, Azeri Light, and Kirkuk types of crude oil per year. Its main products are diesel fuel (4.8 million tons), jet fuel, naphtha (1.6 million tons), liquid petroleum gas, mixed xylene, and petroleum coke.
