STAR Refinery increases crude oil imports by 2%

The STAR Refinery, an asset of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) in Türkiye, imported 863,654 tons of crude oil in April of 2024, Report informs, referring to the Turkish Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA).
According to EMRA, this is 20.56 percent of Türkiye’s total crude oil imports for the reporting period.
Meanwhile, imports rose by 16,517 tons, or 1.94%, compared to April 2023.
During the reporting period, the refineries in Türkiye imported 2,748,992 tons of crude oil, representing an increase of 750,252 tons, or 37.54% year-on-year.
STAR Refinery was inaugurated on October 19, 2018. The foundation of the plant was laid on October 5, 2011. In September 2019, the plant started working at full capacity.
The plant can process 12 million tons of Urals, Azeri Light, and Kirkuk types of crude oil per year. Its main products are diesel fuel (4.8 million tons), jet fuel, naphtha (1.6 million tons), liquid petroleum gas, mixed xylene, and petroleum coke.
