STAR Refinery increases crude oil imports

In February 2024, the STAR Refinery, an asset of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) in Türkiye, imported 859,874 tons of crude oil, 24% of Türkiye’s entire crude oil imports for that month, Report informs, referring to the Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA).
Meanwhile, imports increased by 40,198 tons, or 4.9 percent, compared to February 2023.
During the reporting period, the refineries in Türkiye imported 2,263,950 tons of crude oil, representing an increase of 246,512 tons, or 12.2% a year earlier.
STAR Refinery was inaugurated on October 19, 2018. The foundation of the plant was laid on October 5, 2011. In September 2019, the plant started working at full capacity.
The plant can process 12 million tons of Urals, Azeri Light, and Kirkuk types of crude oil per year. Its main products are diesel fuel (4.8 million tons), jet fuel, naphtha (1.6 million tons), liquid petroleum gas, mixed xylene, and petroleum coke.
