The reactor has been delivered by a long-trailer truck from the plant in India’s Hazira port to Adani port and then to Romania’s Constanta port by sea. It was further transported to Baku through the Volga-Don canal.
Within the framework of the Reconstruction and Modernization of the Heydar Aliyev Baku Oil Refinery, the Refinery was first equipped with an evaporator of hydrogenation (32-K-001), intended for Diesel Hydrotreating Unit. This 34 m-long installation with 4 m and 2.6 m in diameter, weighing 150 tonnes, has been delivered from Turkey’s Derince province to the Refinery through the Black Sea-Volga-Don canal-Caspian Sea route within 35 days. At the same time, two 130-ton thermal reactors, produced by AMD international SRL, and 6 heat exchangers, produced by Daekyung Machinery& Engineering Co. Td, have also been delivered to the Refinery and installation process has already been launched.
Notably, in order to ensure the completion of the project within deadlines, production of the reactor started in July 2017 and took 14 months. In general, 14 new units are planned to be installed at the Heydar Aliyev Oil Refinery within three stages of the reconstruction works. The first stage includes construction and launch of the Bitumen plant and common plant facilities, as well as a new liquid-gas filling station in 2018. In the second stage it’s planned to purchase Euro-5 diesel fuel by the end of 2020 and the third stage envisages production of Euro-5 gasoline by early 2021. As a result of these works, the annual processing capacity of the refinery will be increased from 6 million tonnes to 7.5-8 million tonnes. At the same time, the refinery will also be able to produce A-92/95/98 gasolines. Modernization and reconstruction works will contribute to improvement of the environment in the capital city.
