SOCAR participates in annual meeting of GGFR management team

A delegation of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) participated in the annual meeting of the Steering Committee of the World Bank's Global Gas Flaring Reduction Partnership (GGFR) organization held in London, United Kingdom, Report informs, citing SOCAR.

At the meeting, information was given about a number of successful projects implemented in SOCAR, and it was brought to attention that the emission of carbon dioxide was reduced to less than 2%.

It was stated that SOCAR prevented emissions equivalent to 21,000 tons of CO2, and SOCAR is the first company in the region to acquire and sell carbon credits.

At the event, a proposal was made to change the name of the GGFR to "Flaring Methane Reduction Partnership - FMRP" and this proposal was unanimously accepted by the participants.
