Shell eyes increasing investments in Kazakhstan

The British company Shell is ready to increase investments in Kazakhstan in the short term and explore new opportunities not only for oil, but also for gas, Shell’s Upstream Director Zoë Yujnovich said at a meeting with Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov, Report informs referring to Kazakh media.
They discussed the current development of the Kashagan and Karachaganak fields, the construction of new gas processing plants, compliance with environmental legislation in Kazakhstan and a number of other issues.
Smailov noted that the government highly values the company’s contribution to the development of the republic’s oil and gas industry and is committed to strengthening long-term cooperation.
“Shell is our strategic partner in the oil and gas sector. Much has been done and much more work remains to be done together,” he said.
At the same time, he emphasized that the safe operation of production facilities and compliance with all environmental requirements of Kazakhstan should be the main priorities in the company’s work.
