Samir Sharifov: Energy transition important for countries like Azerbaijan

The energy transition is important for countries like Azerbaijan, Samir Sharifov, Minister of Finance and Governor for Azerbaijan at the ADB, said during the event "Financing Greener Value Chains in the CAREC Region" within the framework of the annual meeting of the ADB, held in the capital of Georgia.

"We must ensure that the transition is smooth and focused," he said, according to Report's correspondent seconded to Tbilisi.

"The COP28 conference played an important role in this issue, it emphasized the importance of the energy transition. We should also consider projects that could stimulate the development of the entire region," the minister added.

Sharifov recalled that the development of the Middle Corridor was also discussed at today's meeting.

According to him, for Azerbaijan, the Middle Corridor is an important project in terms of trade and investment in the region.

"In conclusion, I would like to invite all colleagues to the COP29 conference, which will be held in Baku in November," he concluded.
