Parviz Shahbazov: Azerbaijan's state policy - to become a country of 'green growth' by 2030

The state policy of Azerbaijan is to become a country of 'green growth' with clean environment by 2030, Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov said speaking at the Summit on Green Hydrogen within the framework of the Sustainable Development Week in Abu Dhabi.

Report informs via the Ministry of Energy that the minister said 'green hydrogen' which plays an important role on the global transition to zero-emission economy is assessed as an alternative energy tool in terms of ensuring energy and environmental security.

The minister also shared his views about the future role of Azerbaijan as a supplier of energy to Europe. He said Azerbaijan is a country that diversifies Europe's energy supply with alternative sources. Azerbaijan is a potential source of renewable energy, hydrogen after oil, natural gas for Europe and is one of its partners who will contribute to its plans related to hydrogen: "Hydrogen, production and export of 'green energy', in general, is an important component of our renewed strategic energy partnership with the European Union."

At the summit, the expectations were voiced regarding the development of 'green hydrogen' on a global scale, the changing dynamics of production costs against the background of the energy crisis and the factors necessary for the competitiveness of hydrogen production.
