Over 82% of the total technical capacity of the Greece-Bulgaria interconnector for the next gas year (2023-2024) has already been booked, the company operating the interconnector ICGB told Report.
"Currently, for the first quarter of the upcoming gas year, the gas pipeline has booked capacity of 76%. For the remaining 3 quarters, bookings exceed 84% of the facility's total technical capacity. ICGB continues offering the remaining free capacity in both daily and monthly auctions, ensuring transparent and equal access to all interested traders," the company said.
On July 3, ICGB launched the first phase of the process to expand the capacity of the Greece-Bulgaria gas pipeline. Depending on the market interest, the capacity of the interconnector can be increased up to 5 billion cubic meters per year.
IGB is connected to the Trans-Adriatic gas pipeline in Greece and ensures, first of all, the supply of Azerbaijani gas from the Shah Deniz field in the Caspian Sea to Bulgaria. At subsequent stages, after expansion, Azerbaijani gas can also be delivered through it to other countries of Eastern Europe.
