News in Albanian media about detention of Azerbaijani ship with smuggled oil is fake

The news that some Albanian media outlets spread about the detention of an Azerbaijani ship with smuggled oil in the Albanian port of Durres is fake, a knowledgeable source in the oil industry told Report.

It was noted that the detained tanker does not belong to Azerbaijan, and Azerbaijan is not involved in illegal activities, particularly oil smuggling.

Earlier, several Albanian media outlets disseminated information that a vessel flying the flag of Liberia was detained in the Durres port of Albania with a batch of oil loaded in Greece from countries affected by the oil embargo, including Russia. It was claimed that the ship allegedly belonged to Azerbaijan.
