Iran begins installing solar panels in residential buildings

Iran launches a new initiative on the installation of solar panels in residential buildings, stated Iran's Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development Gholamreza Kazemian at the "High-Level Energy and Urban Dialogue" held within the framework of the World Urban Forum (WUF13), Report informs

According to him, along with the work carried out in the field of defense and innovative technologies in the country, greater emphasis is placed on clean and sustainable energy sources: "In this framework, Iran's Ministry of Roads and Urban Development is preparing to sign a memorandum with the Ministry of Energy and Iran's Construction Engineering Organization for the purpose of expanding solar energy systems in residential buildings. The initiative will be implemented within the framework of the Law on Construction Engineering and Consulting. The main goal of the project is to reduce energy consumption in buildings and to meet part of the energy demand of applying residential facilities through solar panels."

He noted that technical and engineering support, software, as well as financial concessions and credit opportunities will be provided for the implementation of the program: "The financing of the project will be ensured through energy savings and energy saving certificates traded on the Iran Energy Exchange. According to the Law on Construction Engineering and Consulting adopted in 1995, the National Building Regulations cover technical principles, standards, and implementation rules regulating the design, calculation, construction, operation, and maintenance of buildings. Among the main objectives of the document, along with safety, public health, comfort, and economic efficiency, increasing energy efficiency is also included."
