Gasoline prices in Greece hit new all-time high

The price of gasoline on the Greek island of Kos has reached 3 euros per liter, Report informs referring to pronews.gr.

This is a historical high for the whole country.

This was not the case even in 2022, when gasoline prices in all of Greece significantly exceeded 2 euros due to the energy crisis.

Gas stations are required to inform a special Greek monitoring center on the situation on the fuel market every time they change the price of fuel. From the data received by this center from the Greek islands, it is clear that gasoline prices have jumped, the newspaper writes.

On the island of Milos, the price of gasoline AI-95 reached 2.45 euros per liter, on Patmos - 2.37 euros per liter, on Nisyros - 2.36 euros per liter, on Leros - 2.35 euros. The average price in the country was 1.962 euros per liter, while on 1 July it was 1.863 euros per liter.

Greece has one of the highest gasoline prices in Europe, mainly due to a 24 percent VAT, a social security tax, and two more taxes that the government has stubbornly refused to reduce. Taxes account for 60% of the price of gasoline in the country.
