Reconstruction of the thermal power plant in Azerbaijan's Mingachevir will save 1.5 billion cubic meters of gas, which is equal to the annual production from the Absheron field, Deputy Minister of Energy Elnur Soltanov said at public hearings in the Committee on Natural Resources, Energy and Ecology of the Parliament, Report informs.
"This is good news for both the population and the state. The population will receive gas at a lower price, and the state will be able to use the saved gas for other purposes," he noted.
A new power plant with a capacity of 1,280 megawatts is being built in Mingachevir on the territory of the Azerbaijan Thermal Power Plant. Commissioning is scheduled for 2025.
