After the end of the winter heating season, EU gas storage facilities were more than 58% full on March 31, the European Commissioner for Energy Kadri Simson, Report informs.
"These are the highest levels ever recorded at this time of year. These high levels are the result of our successful diversification of energy supplies, efforts by citizens and businesses to reduce gas demand, and our investments in renewable energy," Kadri Simson said.
She said this meant markets were becoming increasingly stable, prices had returned to the levels before the Ukraine war and the EU could confidently start replenishing gas reserves for next winter's heating season.
