EBRD may consider participating in SGC expansion

At the moment, the government of Azerbaijan is talking to the management of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) regarding the expansion of the Southern Gas Corridor project, EBRD Country Head for Azerbaijan, Kamola Makhmudova, told journalists, Report informs.
“We are waiting for the results of the diagnostics. So first, we need to see the diagnostics for the economic projects. Once it is there, the EBRD will consider arranging the financing or participating in the Southern Gas Corridor,” Makhmudova said.
The main components of the Southern Gas Corridor are the full-scale development of the "Shah Deniz" gas-condensate field, the expansion of the South Caucasus Pipeline system (SCP), the Trans-Anatolian Pipeline (TANAP) and the Trans-Adriatic Pipeline projects.
The total cost of the SGC project was $38 billion.
The transportation of Azerbaijani gas to Turkiye via TANAP started in the summer of 2018 and to Europe via TAP -on December 31, 2020.
