Partnership with Azerbaijan, which has been further strengthened since 2024 thanks to gas supplies from the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR), supports key projects such as the Southern Gas Corridor (SGC) and the Ionian-Adriatic (IAP) pipeline, Vedran Spehar, the State Secretary at the Ministry of Economy of Croatia, said at the 11th Southern Gas Corridor Advisory Council Ministerial Meeting and the 3rd Green Energy Advisory Council Ministerial Meeting.
Report quotes Spehar as saying Croatia is committed to the goal of transitioning to clean and affordable energy and a green economy by 2050, in line with Europe's climate policy.
He said that thanks to the REPowerEU program, the country is becoming a regional energy hub, expanding liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal to 6.1 billion cubic meters by 2026 with an investment of 559 million euros, as well as investing in the construction of new pipelines in Slovenia and Hungary.
