Gas production in Azerbaijan is growing, exceeding forecasts. The success of this industry is ensured by strategic investments in the country's gas fields, the Vice President of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) Babek Huseynov said at the opening of the IADC Drilling Caspian 2025 conference in Baku, Report informs.
According to him, oil production shows a downward trend, which is associated with the development of mature fields.
"However, we don't see this as a challenge, but as an opportunity for innovation and transformation. Gas production indicators exceed our expectations, and Azerbaijan is strengthening its position as a key supplier and strategic partner of Europe," Huseynov noted.
He also emphasized that new oil and gas projects continue to be implemented in the country, including "Karabakh," "Ashrafi-Dan Ulduzu" and "Aypara," "Absheron," "Umid," and deep-gas at the "Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli" block.
"All these fields will make a significant contribution to the resource base, stabilize production levels, and ensure long-term export supplies of energy resources," he added.
Huseynov noted that these projects contribute to SOCAR's sustainable development and allow Azerbaijan to continue meeting growing energy demand.
