Azerbaijan signs agreements with foreign companies on solar energy projects

Azerbaijan's Energy Ministry and China Energy Engineering Corporation Limited and Maire Tecnimont S.p.A. have signed documents on the implementation of three solar energy projects with a total capacity of 200 MW and a document on cooperation in green energy.

According to Report, the signing of the documents took place within the framework of the Baku Energy Week.

In particular, the Ministry of Energy of Azerbaijan and Universal Solar Azerbaijan [a subsidiary of China-based Universal Energy] signed the Land Lease Agreement for the Gobustan solar power plant (SPP) project with a capacity of 100 MW. The document was signed by Minister of Energy of Azerbaijan Parviz Shahbazov and Director of the company Tao Zhicheng.

The Agreement on the purchase and sale of electricity and the Agreement on connection to the transmission network for this project were signed by Chairman of the Board of Azerenergy Baba Rzayev and Tao Zhicheng.

As part of the initiatives aimed at turning the liberated territories into a green energy zone, contracts were signed for the construction of two solar power plants in the Jabrayil region. Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov, Director of Enerso Jabrayil Eldar Mammadzada and Director of Clean Energy Jabrayil Khayala Naghiyeva signed Land Lease Agreements for the 50 MW Ufug SPP and 50 MW Shams SPP projects.

Power Purchase and Sale Agreement and Transmission Grid Connection Agreement were also signed for both projects. In addition, joint balancing contracts were signed with Norm in connection with the construction of these two plants.

The Ministry of Energy of Azerbaijan and Maire Tecnimont S.p.A. signed a Protocol on Amendments to the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the Field of Energy Transition in connection with the extension of its validity period.
